Game Table Online News

07.01.08: GameTable Online Now Free

Starting July 1st, GameTable Online will be throwing its doors open and giving everybody the chance to enjoy all of the wonderful games that we've created over the past seven years - without needing to pay a subscription fee to do it.

What does this mean to you? Well, if you aren't a current subscriber, it means that all of the games are available to you with no extra work. Get in there and play some games! Invite your friends! It's free!

For subscribers: As of July 1st, all Paypal subscriptions will be discontinued, but your access to our games will continue. Essentially, nothing else will change for you. Continue playing as you always had. If you have any specific questions regarding billing, please contact Robert Eng - reng@gametableonline.com.

Core users: We thank you for your efforts in bringing more gaming to the subscription service. You are no longer required to keep up a certain level of play to keep your status. Play as much as you like, when you like.

Founding members: We haven't forgotten you. We'll be coming up with a way of recognizing your steadfast loyalty to GameTable Online over the years.

Other changes:

One of the main changes that you'll see right away is the addition of advertising. Our business model is changing from one supported directly by you to one primarily supported by advertising. GTO started at a time when advertising was not well-liked by the average Internet denizen. Those days have changed drastically. Now most people accept advertising as preferable to subscriptions.

This also means that you'll likely see a large influx of new users. Our community has always been one of the best aspects of the site (our survey showed that you agree), so please make the newcomers feel welcome and show them the ropes when you can. More players means more gaming for everyone.

Other changes are going to happen over time. We're always trying to improve the overall experience. You can also expect to see another new game announcement in next month's newsletter.

If you have any questions about the changes (other than billing) please ask them on the forum.
